CURIS - Public Health Advocacy

CURIS (“cares” in Latin) is a student organization at the University of Michigan dedicated to raising awareness about public health issues and enacting change in our own community. We partner with local organizations on a variety of projects that aim to empower people of all backgrounds with the resources they need to improve their health.

OUR VALUES

Equity

Understanding the high amounts of health inequity and disparities in this world, we seek to remain focused on removing barriers to healthcare, amplifying unheard voices, and promoting equity for all community members.

Compassion

We are dedicated to empowering the local community and continually educating ourselves while striving for a compassionate understanding of individuals' unique experiences and circumstances.

Drive

By engaging in local partnerships, we are dedicated to fostering an environment where collaborative solutions and our determination lead to meaningful and lasting impacts on our local community as future leaders of public health.

Humility

Public health is built by the community, for the community. We understand that we all bring distinctive experiences and perspectives to the table, and we strive to be open-minded and learn from others.

Why CURIS?

"[I] wanted to learn more about public health, wanted to incorporate public health into the shaping of my lens of medicine, and wanted to work with like-minded individuals to tackle the public health issues that are present on our campus."

Sarah Kim, Class of '28
