About
Who We Are
CURIS (“cares” in Latin) is a student organization dedicated to promoting health throughout Ann Arbor, the University of Michigan, and the greater Washtenaw community. Through partnerships with community-based organizations, students work on various initiatives throughout the field of public health. Internally, we host various social, professional development, and networking events, encouraging members to dive deeper and learn more about public health and find community.
What We Do
Projects
Every year, CURIS partners with various community-based organizations and public health agencies working on different deliverables. Past projects have included educational workshops, policy briefs, content for websites and social media, infographics, and newsletters. The organizations we work with change from year to year, and our projects also differ depending on the organization's needs and CURIS members’ interests.
Professional Development
CURIS seeks to expose our members to the broader field of public health. Seeking to prepare our members for their academic and professional careers, CURIS hosts speaker talks, volunteer opportunities, resume workshops, and networking opportunities. In the past, we have had speakers such as MPH Admission Officers, professors, and CURIS alumni from a variety of public health fields.
Socials
CURIS holds many opportunities to meet new people and connect with peers with common interests! Besides our weekly bonding activities at GBMs and monthly coffee chats, we also have various club-wide social events planned throughout the year to build a familial community that our members can call home. Such events include but are not limited to movie-watch parties, murder mysteries, our annual Easter egg hunt (which gets very competitive), and potlucks! Not a fan of larger get-togethers? No worries! We also ensure that each committee has their own bonding opportunity every semester.

08
Why is there an application and recruitment process?
We want to make sure our members are passionate and driven to enact public health change. Working with local organizations means there is a steady stream of tasks to tackle, and we need to know you will be able to handle the responsibilities to come. Furthermore, we are looking to see if our club aligns with your academic and professional goals. We have a limited number of committees and slots available, so we want to ensure we recruit members who are committed, dependable and excel at collaborating with a team!
